Asbestos Bulk Analyst - Glasgow

We are looking to add an experienced P401 Qualified Asbestos Laboratory Analyst to our current team. The role will initially be based in the Glasgow lab, which has ample parking, great transport links and a variety of shops within walking distance. This is a full-time role with flexible working times to suit, part-time hours will also be considered to suit around home life.


The Asbestos Bulk Analyst will be responsible for analysing and identifying asbestos-containing materials within building materials and producing accurate reports to clients. All analysis and reporting will be carried out to meet the requirements of ISO:17025, along with LAB 30 and HSG 248. The Analyst should be able to work
effectively alongside surveyors and clients, be reliable and willing to undertake other tasks to suit business needs, including admi,n and possibly assisting on surveys.


Qualifications / Skills

  • BOHS P401 qualification in Asbestos Identification or equivalent

  • Proven record of good score in AIMS and satisfactory QC result

  • A minimum of 6 months of experience working in a UKAS-accredited laboratory as a qualified asbestos bulk analysis

  • Proficient in the use of PLM microscope for asbestos fibre identification

  • Good knowledge of HSE asbestos guidance, regulations, and standards

  • The candidate should be computer literate with Office 365, Microsoft Word, and

Excel experience. Able to use relevant asbestos software, including Alpha
Tracker.

  • The candidate must possess good attention to detail, communication skills 
    (both written and verbal) With the ability to manage and organise their own 
    workload effectively

  • Follow health and safety guidance within laboratory

  • Retake periodic refresher training

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

 

What We Can Offer You

  • A negotiable full-time annual salary starting from £25,500 - £29,500 (pro-rata) based on industry experience and qualifications. This is subject to review after probation and is negotiable.

  • Flexible working hours available (part-time/full-time will be pro rata pay)

  • 26 days holiday with an additional Bank Holidays (increase after 1 and 5 year service)

Trainee Bulk Analyst / Administrator

We are looking to hire a trainee asbestos analyst who can also double as an office administrator. 

The role will be working towards gaining the P401 qualification from BOHS to become a qualified Asbestos Laboratory Analyst. Time spent in office and lab is expected to be 50/50. 

The role will be based in the Glasgow lab, which has ample parking, great transport links and a variety of shops within walking distance. This is a full-time role and the successful candidate must be willing to learn new skills and be computer literate. Candidate MUST have experience of using Office 365 and Excel.


The Trainee Asbestos Bulk Analyst will be learning how to analyse and identifying asbestos-containing materials within building samples and producing accurate reports to clients. All analysis and reporting will be carried out to meet the requirements of ISO:17025, along with LAB 30 and HSG 248. The Analyst should be able to work effectively alongside surveyors and clients, be reliable and willing to undertake other tasks to suit business needs, including admin and possibly assisting on surveys.


Qualifications / Skills / Personal Attributes

  • Computer skill are essential, previous experience of using Office 365 and Excel

  • Able to use relevant asbestos software, including AlphaTracker.

  • Quick learner

  • Knowledge of HSE asbestos guidance, regulations, and standards

  • The candidate must possess good attention to detail, communication skills 
    (both written and verbal) With the ability to manage and organise their own 
    workload effectively

  • Follow health and safety guidance within laboratory

  • Retake periodic refresher training

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Microscopy skill are highly desirable

  • Candidate MUST be over 18 to work within the asbestos lab

  • Trainee will start of on minimum wage with chance to progress over time to a salary of that of a qualified analyst (pro-rata)

  • May be opportunity to work from home on occasions.
